Downtown Vancouver, BC
Back in the fall break of 2016, we had an unplanned trip to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. It was an official trip for my husband but a full-time enjoyment too. We took a nonstop road trip, all the way from California to Vancouver, which took us approximately 18 hours, taking a brief layover at Oregon and Washington.
Vancouver, British Columbia….is full of natural beauty scenic landscapes, grassy hills and the weather is spectacular as compared to California. We had booked our stay in Hampton Inn Downtown, Vancouver, right behind The BC Place, which is an enormous arena.
Science World
The Downtown of Vancouver is located on a peninsula because it’s enclosed by water. The area is very comparable to an overcrowded city, within a small area, designated by high-rise structures. There are various exotic places nearby Downtown, and one of them is the ‘Science World…… at TELUS World of Science’, which is a great place for kids.
Science Exhibits
The Science World is an iconic dome structure, seen from far away. It’s beautifully built from both inside and out and totally worth coming to. There are so many interactive areas for kids to explore and learn in, plus they are live exhibits throughout the day. It’s a great place for kids where they can play and learn at the same time.
Global Restaurants
Vancouver is filled up with restaurants with global cuisines. Offering an amazing collection of food choices for everyone, especially seafood lovers. There are simply too many amazing restaurants in Vancouver serving incredible meals, and the one we enjoyed was the “JUMBO GRILL”, 15 minutes from our residing place.
African Cuisine
Jumbo Grill Restaurant was one of kind and served African cuisine. Its decor exhibited its culture, history, and art. There were unusual kinds of masterpieces varying in size and shape all-around the place. Apart from the decor, the food was pleasing. The African cuisine menu card was loaded with all varieties of seafood, goat, lamb, beef, date, olives, nuts, as well as a variation of fruits and vegetables. Their food also reflected the aroma of all sorts of spices such as cumin, paprika, saffron, dried mint, coriander, sesame seed, and much more. The grilled platter “Bamburi kabab” and “The African Chilli Chicken” was top of the list. In the end, they also ask if we want to be served pan…… It’s an after-dinner treat that consists of a betel leaf stuffed with chopped betel nut and slaked lime…. in short, it’s a mouth freshener.
The Sea to Sky Gondola
We planned a day to go to a spot near Squamish, an hour drive from Vancouver on a scenic journey to The Sea to Sky Gondola, an epic way to view the surrounding mountains above sea level. It has an amazing view of the coastal rainforest and mountain as well as the magnificent ride to the summit in the Gondola. This attraction was unique and peaceful on the top in between the clouds.
Multnomah Falls
There was one more attraction which we explored on the way back from Vancouver. This one was built naturally, the famous waterfall in Oregon…..” Multnomah Falls”. It’s a beautiful place full of tourists and has a beauty of its own.
