MOTICHOOR LADOOS

Motichoor laddoos are traditional sweets, which simply melts in the mouth. They are not only delicious but are relatively simple to make. Motichur Ladoos need a few simple ingredients to make a festive season on. They are served as treats in different kinds of festivals in Pakistan and India. The real secret in making  Ladoos is to have the patience, to make the tiny sweet beads because this is the only step that takes time. Motichoor Laddoos are made of fresh gram flour, semolina as well as sugar, and nuts.

 

The chickpea flour droplets are made by deep-frying batter into hot purified butter. These pearl-like drops are then infused with sugar syrup, and they are then formed into ladoos or round balls.

MOTICOOR LADOO 

 

INGREDIENTS:

 

  • Almonds 3 tbsp (chopped)
  • Oil for deep frying
  • Pistachios 3 tbsp (chopped)
  • Ghee – 2 tbsp

For Boondi:

  • Gram Flour 1 cup
  • Semolina 1 tbsp
  • Water as required
  • Orange Food Color 1/2 tsp

For Sugar Syrup:

  • Sugar 1 cup
  • Water 1/2 cup
  • Saffron a pinch
  • Cardamom Powder 1 tsp

INSTRUCTIONS:

 

  • Take gram flour and semolina bowl.
  • Add in water and mix well to form a smooth batter… Not too thin or thick.
  • Add in food coloring and mix well.
  • Now take sugar and water in a pan.
  • Mix well so the sugar gets dissolved in the water
  • Bring this to a boil.
  • Simmer for 8 to 10 mins till it forms a string like consistency.
  • Add in cardamom powder and saffron to this and mix well.
  • Heat oil in a deep wok.
  • Take a perforated spoon/ladle and pour the batter over it, and tap gently to drop them into the oil.
  • Medium-high medium-high until it changes color, make sure it does not get crisp.
  • Drain the boondi into a bowl and set aside 
  • Repeat till the batter is finished.
  • Now add all the nuts to the boondi and pour the warm syrup over it.
  • Mix well until it gets combined.
  • Dip hands in ghee and take a small portion, shape it into balls and arrange them on a plate.
  • Decorate with a slice of almonds and pistachios and enjoy.
