During this pandemic, in the past few months, social media has been filled with several posts regarding a famous drink in which you will have a fair chance to see someone whipping together sugar, instant coffee, and boiling water.
Nextly, it is spooned over iced milk to generate a foamy drink known as “Dalgona coffee”. The word Dalgona means ‘Honeycomb Toffee ‘ which was was famous in the early 70s and 80s in South Korea.
This drink made its existence in the streets of South Korea during the pandemic, which made people enjoy coffee back at home. It is also known as the “QUARANTINE COFFEE “. The drink itself has origins from Pakistan and India, where it is also known as “Whipped Coffee” or “Beaten Coffee”. I have a personal experience of whipping for a big crowd.
Presently, my girls are enjoying preparing this beverage, and every time the flavor is getting better. If you have the proper whisking tool, the drink is in your hands every day.
We have tried this recipe with various kinds of milk like Soy, Almond, and Low-fat. The leftover foam mixture can be preserved in the refrigerator as the instant coffee foam is relatively stable.
If you’ve got instant coffee, sugar, and water on hand, you can make this. It’ll go by faster if you have a hand mixer, but a humble regular whisk, one powerful arm, and a good dose of patience and endurance will get you there too with a nice tall glass of cold, smooth coffee that’s flavored just right.
