Food & Traveling
Food is a way that connects cultures and generations. In life, we all have had those moments when we sensed something that recalled us of our childhood or invented a dish that we had abroad that instantly brought us back to that place. Food can precisely motivate anyone to another time, another country, another culture. Essentially, food culture is such a significant way to engage and connect with one another.
The city of Christchurch
This year, in mid-February, my husband had an official trip to Christchurch, New Zealand. This place appeared to be close to nature, according to the captured pictures taken.
The city of Christchurch is a clean and beautiful place, with thoughtful people around. According to my husband, the country has a dynamic past and an incredible culture, plus the citizens are very welcoming. After traveling to a list of countries, New Zealand was one of a kind for him.
Holy mosque,” Al-Noor”
During his trip, he had a chance to visit the famous Holy mosque,” Al-Noor”, which was attacked in March 2019. On 15 March 2019, the place was a target of a terrorist attack at Christchurch. People were shot and injured overall in the attack. The mosque reopened on 23 March.
The Classic Cuisine
Within the city of Christchurch, he had the experience to dine in this very atmospheric and welcoming restaurant, “MUMBAIWALA”, an authentic destination of proper Indian food.
The description of what my husband told and the bunch of pictures incited a view of what this place seemed to be. He was inspired by the amazing food, loved the atmosphere and the way of service. The menu was filled with a great and variety of spiced cuisines.
The Mumbai traditional culture
Looking through the images, everything in the restaurant had a fine touch and an authentic feel. The Mumbai culture was built in this little community with a blend of traditional cutlery, serving platters, food, and the mini Chai, Dabba, and Auto corner reflected the heritage of Mumbai. The layout recalled me of the Street cafe’s in Karachi, the milkman‘s Bicycle which used to arrive daily at our doorstep to deliver milk, the 3-tier stainless steel tiffin which was utilized for lunch, and the comprehensive decor conveyed the nostalgic times in our childhood.
The Perfect Surrounding
As a fact, the culture of Mumbai is incomplete without the traditional delicacies of Mumbai. “MUMBAIWALA” carried an incredible way to exhibit their culture and heritage to the world. The choice of architecture, the famous wordings engraved on the wall, and tables were out of the box. The amazing street kitchen of Mumbai, serving its customers along with its culinary roots and taste, “MUMBAIWALA”, is also recognized as one of the best restaurants in Christchurch.
